Fresh Looks For The
Summer
As the seasons change from winter to spring and then from spring
to summer, we all notice the changes in fashion. Hemlines get shorter,
trousers turn into cut-offs or shorts, the little black dresses
turn into floral print cotton, and shoes are replaced with sandals
and flip-flops. This is obviously partly due to the change in weather
and temperature. However, it is also part of the ‘summer look’
– people like to look cool and natural as well as feel it
when the summer comes around.

In the same way, make up trends can change drastically when summer
comes around. The darker, richer winter colours are cast aside in
favour of cooler, more natural colours and products. Nobody wants
to look as though are caked in cosmetics as they head off to the
beach during the holidays, which is often how winter colours can
comes across on bright summer days. The other thing you need to
remember is that summer days can get really hot, and the last thing
you want is to have your very noticeable make-up melting, sweating
and bleeding as you wear it.
This is why it is best to opt for naturals during the summer months.
Frosted pinks and golden browns are very popular shades of lipstick
in the summer. Foundation, if necessary at all, should always be
kept light to avoid the ‘caked’ look and to allow your
skin to breathe during the heat. It is a good idea to opt for a
tinted moisturizer instead of a foundation as this will hydrate
your skin as well as give you a healthy glow. You can accentuate
your natural tan with a light dusting of blusher in a natural shade
that closely matches your skin shade. And, if you want to bring
out your eyes a little more, you should select eye shadows in very
soft colours, such as light browns or pale golds.
These make up shades are very natural ones, but they can work
very effectively during the summer. The right make up can give you
a real sun-kissed look, and if you’ve picked up a natural
tan they can set it off perfectly. Make sure that you use plenty
of light moisturizer to keep your skin hydrated, particularly during
the summer. It is important to do this both morning and night to
stop your skin from drying out.
Most people pick up a natural, radiant glow during the summer
months, and this glow can really be enhanced by using the right
cosmetics. Summer evenings can be spiced up a little by going for
bronze and cinnamon colours, and the more adventurous could even
go for a golden/bronze shimmer dust which can be lightly dusted
on to the cheekbones for the ultimate tanned glow. There are some
great summer shades available for both day and night, so you can
look both natural and stunning.
Do bear in mind, however, that summer make up should be far lighter
in coverage than winter make up; thickly applied make up may end up
sliding down your face by midday when it starts to get hotter. With
this in mind, it is essential to try and keep your skin in top condition
as you will not have the security of as much make up coverage as you
might in autumn or winter. So, ensure that you wash, cleanse, tone
and moisturize your face every night, and also ensure that you drink
plenty of water to keep your skin fresh and hydrated. |
